Turkey

I've got a lot of catching up to do but here is a bit of my time in Turkey: I started off in Istanbul. I met up with Scott and Rahima and we saw some of the touristy sights there including the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sofia and Topkapi palace. One thing about Turkey, they are really big into Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. There are pictures of that guy everywhere.

Our hotel had a great view of the harbor and the Blue Mosque. It was in the district of Sultanahmet, which has all the sights and everything is packed tightly in one place. I think it's a pretty old part of town. Almost all the hotels there have rooftop terraces where you eat breakfast and such.

We ended up talking to a lot of waiters. They loved it when Scott would speak some Turkish. They also insisted he looked very much like a Turk.

If you ever visit Turkey, you'll end up eating a lot of kebabs and meatballs. They have a different sort of kebab named for different cities in Turkey (i.e. Iskender, Urfa, Adana). I'm not sure what the differences are but they were all pretty delicious.
